Dear Church Family, "Go in peace and take your Sunday faith into your Monday world” is a benediction I love. It’s a reminder that coming to worship, while valuable, is the easy part. What is challenging is seeing the world through Jesus’ eyes when we leave the sanctuary and consider “what would Jesus do?” as we engage our surroundings. Our topic in the “A Fresh Look at the Bible” class I am teaching for Taconic Learning Center this week was the prophets. I was struck by the forceful reminder it is not the “noise of solemn assemblies” that God desires “but to let justice roll down like a river and righteousness like an ever flowing stream.” (Amos 5: 21,24). “Take your Sunday faith into your Monday world “ tells me it is good actions flowing from good words that matter. On Sunday, I officially begin my 8th year with you. When Mary Atwood, who was attending a TLC course I was teaching, invited me to fill the pulpit one Sunday, I had no idea we would still be leading worship this many years later. We are grateful for the opportunity and for the many friends we have made. Thank you. Communion will be celebrated this Sunday. It is Transfiguration Sunday (come to worship if you’re wondering what that means!) The sermon is “Back Down the Mountain” and the texts are Exodus 34:29-35 and Matthew 17:1-9. Rich
