Dear Church Family, I want to remind you of the National Day of Prayer gathering on the Falls Village Green at noon on Thursday, May 1. I encourage you to attend. Feelings are especially strong this year about the direction of our nation, but surely we can agree that we are a country standing in the need of prayer. The National Day of Prayer was established by Presidential proclamation more than seventy years ago. The hope was that Americans of all faiths could join together on one day in a non-partisan public event to call on God for guidance in a spirit of humility and trust. There will be both guided and free form prayer for the community and its schools, the nation and its government and military, and the world, for peace in these troubled times. Former Selectman Chuck Lewis coordinates the local effort. Clerk Dick Heinz assisted by others will provide support from our church. Following the service, Lynn and I invite any from our congregation to join us for lunch at the Stateline restaurant in Canaan, our treat.. Sunday’s sermon is “what’s a minister to do?” and the texts are Acts 9:1-9 and John 21:15-19. See you in church. Peace and Joy, Rich
