Dear Church Family, Thanks to so many of you who offered your congratulations on our 50th wedding anniversary on July 12. It is quite a milestone and we feel very blessed. We believe God brought us together and our trust in God has been the glue that has sustained us through the many joys and challenges of our life together. Our anniversary gathering with the family in Williamsburg was wonderful. It was the first time we were all together in several years. We stayed in replica colonial homes right in the historic area. The girls were dressed in colorful colonial attire . We took it at a leisurely pace, but packed in a lot. We visited numerous historic buildings and trade shops. The grandchildren enjoyed doing crafts, participating in an impromptu drama, and meeting “General Washington” and the “Marquis de Lafayette.” We swam, played games, and ate well. A highlight for me was having us all attend the historic Bruton Parish church. Worship was enhanced by special choir and instrumental music. This Sunday the sermon theme is “Simplicity” and the texts are Micah 6:1-18, Luke 10:38-42, and Matthew 6:19-21. Sunday evening, at 7 p.m. I am scheduled to lead worship at “The Church in the Wildwood” in Colebrook. A highlight of these informal summer services is an old fashioned hymn sing. In past years a number of you have attended, and I welcome seeing some familiar faces. And I promise a different message than in the morning! See you in church. Rich
