Dear Church Family, We want to pass on the sad news that Lynn’s older brother, Bing, died yesterday. Bing was a kind and caring man, and a much beloved brother and brother-in-law, who will be greatly missed. All four of his children, as well as his former wife, were with him. We were able to talk with him just two hours before he died. Thank you for your prayers during these past difficult months. We trust that he is now safe in the arms of a loving God.. Most of you know that we announced on Sunday that we will be moving to a continuing care community in Winchester, VA in October. This was a wrenching decision, but my multiple health situations led us to think we needed to do this while independent living was still an option. We lived in Winchester for 21 years, and know many people at this facility, on whose Board of Trustees I served for 15 years. Plus, this move brings us closer to family, since our elder son, Toby, still lives there. So, we are moving back to familiar territory. Among the most difficult aspects of this move is having to leave the church which we have loved serving the past 7 ½ years. It has been a good relationship and we will miss the many friends we have made. We’ll write more about our transition and the church’s ongoing ministry in future editions of A Good Word. Worship this Sunday will center on “Aspects of Love,” focusing on the rich description of the qualities of love in 1st Corinthians 13:4-7. The Old Testament reading is Hosea 11:1-6. A congregational meeting will be held on Sunday, August 31 following worship, during coffee hour, to act on a recommendation “to authorize the Board of Trustees to pursue the sale of the parsonage, including expenditure of funds for that purpose, i.e. surveyor. “ All are welcome to attend, but only members of the congregation are eligible to vote. See you in church, Rich
