Dear Church Family, This Sunday, September 28 is the annual CROP walk. For more than 25 years this has been the major community fundraiser to support the work of Church World Service in providing hunger relief, water purification, and agricultural development projects throughout the developing world. Our local congregation has been a strong supporter of this mission outreach. Twenty five percent of the revenues stay locally, and last year Falls Village received $600 to support our local food pantry. This is a major effort of the entire religious community, but it is also supported by local schools. For the first time since COVID there will be a united community walk (rather than individual congregational walks as we have been doing) to make visible our commitment to end hunger. The walk will begin at 1 p.m. from the Salisbury Congregational Church on Main St. and will go from there to Lakeville and back on the Rail Trail. It is a beautiful walk on flat terrain. You may make contributions to CROP in cash or check to our coordinator, Tracy Atwood this Sunday. Or you can give online, through our church’s site on the CROP website. Go to tiny.cc/CROP-WALK-NWCT and in the search block enter “Falls Village Congregational Church.” Follow the instructions for joining the FVCC team and making a donation. Several hundred dollars have already been contributed toward our goal of $1000. With government funding for humanitarian projects being cut, our generous private donations are even more important. Jesus tells us in Matthew 25 just how essential feeding, clothing, and caring for the neediest is to being a disciple. The biblical texts for Sunday’s worship are Psalm 84 and Hebrews 13:14-16. The sermon, titled ‘Yearnings,’ will focus of our hungers for something richer and deeper in our lives. See you in church. Rich
