Dear Church Family,
I was wrong! I said last week I was sending my final “A Good Word” to you. But after the memorable day yesterday, I had to write to express our deep appreciation.
Everything about the day was so beautiful. To see such a full sanctuary, lovingly adorned with flowers, was touching indeed. To have the choir together to sing three (!) anthems, with our beloved director Liz at the keyboard, and special “Rich and Lynn” touches, was a joy. To enjoy a such an incredible luncheon was a delight. And to receive the incredible painting of the church and the monetary gift was overwhelming. We so enjoyed reading the notes and hearing such humbling expressions of appreciation.
Our hearts are full indeed. We thank you so much for yesterday’s celebration, but even more for your love and expressions of the gospel throughout these 7 ½ years. As I said yesterday, we give thanks to God for you and will miss you dearly.
Falls Village Congregational Church will remain always in our hearts. And we hope to keep in touch. As the old WW 2 song put it, “we’ll meet again.” Again, words can’t fully express the gratitude we feel. We wish you God’s richest blessings as you continue the journey of faith.
Peace and Joy,
Rich and Lynn

Dear Church Family,
It is hard to believe that after 7 ½ years our ministry at Falls Village Congregation is coming too an end. It has been a most satisfying partnership and we will miss our weekly gatherings. But we hope to stay in touch and maintain the many friendships we have made. After 350 or so of the weekly memo A Good Word, this will be the last. It has been a fun way of keeping in touch, sharing congregational news and providing a little reflection on faith during the week. Who knew I’d have so much to say!
Undoubtedly Sunday will be a bittersweet day filled with sadness and celebration as we each begin a new transition. The sermon is “Thanking God” and the texts are Ecclesiastes 3:1-11a and Philippians 1:1-11. I understand there will be a lunch following that I hope many will attend.
As we downsize in preparation for the move (which will be October 18), we will be having a “Garage Give Away” at our house at 76 Washinee Heights Road, Salisbury, on Saturday, October 11, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. There are occasional tables, lamps, file cabinets, assorted tools and garden items and much more good stuff—all free. Come and visit. Our new address will be 300 Westminster Canterbury Drive, #516 Shenandoah, Winchester, VA 22603. We will be keeping our cell phone numbers and email addresses.
One final note- Our CROP coordinator Tracy Atwood reports that we collected $1106.40. That more than meets our goal. I’m always proud of our small congregation which always shows such generosity in meeting human need. The amount raised for the whole Litchfield area was $41,814.
See you in church. Rich
